Your mover should go over
these items when you are getting an Export Quotation.
1. DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT
Properties, Hazards, Special Grade, End Use, Trade Name(s).
2. QUANTITY
Make sure you and your client have the same understanding
concerning the amount of the product. Specify the number and
capacity of the items to be shipped. If in "Units", define
the units.
3. PACKAGING
Is the product a bulk item? Packed in boxes, crates, drums,
containers, bags?
4. PRICE AND RATE-BASIS
What currency? Rate per Units i.e. pounds, kilos, gallons,
tons (metric, long, short), other?
5. TERMS OF SALE
INCO Terms, with
geographical designation, method of transportation
6. TERMS OF PAYMENT
Open Account? Cash in Advance? Documentary Collection?
Documentary Credit? E.G. Letter of Credit terms –
Irrevocable ? At ninety days ?
7. WHEN IS THE SHIPMENT READY?
Propose a firm date or e.g. "after receipt of"
8. TIME CONSTRAINTS
Validity of your offer is ____. Escalation ?
9. ANY OTHER REQUIREMENTS?
Pay attention to the details. It is better to avoid any
uncertainties or ambiguities well in advance, rather than
having an unhappy customer in the future!
